Alessandria Città delle Biciclette, the museum in Palazzo del Monferrato, reopens on Saturday 15 May 2021, with free admission. And it continues to ride "in Giro": next stop 15 May in Voghera (Visconteo Castle), while on 18 May 2021, for the International Day of Museums, a new digital appointment that connects it to the network with the Ghisallo Museum, Mumac Cimbali - Faema, on the route of the history of the 90 years of the Maglia Rosa
Reopens from Saturday 15 May on weekends
Saturday and Sunday 10-13 and 16-19. According to the anti Covid-19 rules in the DPCM
After almost 200 days of forced closure - due to the COVID-19 pandemic - the museum in Via San Lorenzo in Alessandria, which tells the story of the first bicycle to arrive in Italy, founded thanks to a historical research project and the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Alessandria and Asti and included in the "musei del Piemonte" museum network, as well as twinned with Museo del Ciclismo Madonna del Ghisallo in Magreglio (Como), returns to cycling at weekends with free admission and in accordance with the precautionary rules laid down by the dpcm.
In fact, museo AcdB has never been idle during these 200 days of pandemic closure, it has been pedalling diligently through projects, already started before the first lockdown, which have led it to be much more virtual and virtuous with the creation of digital exhibitions - real virtual tours - all conceived and realised through the exploitation of the AcdB-Ghisallo digital archive. The latest virtual tour is of great cycling relevance and was launched in March for the countdown of the Giro d'Italia and in collaboration with the organisers of the Pink Race, to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Maglia Rosa.
Triggering with enthusiasm a series of museum and cultural connections, for the "great restart" of the Giro number 104, started last Saturday from Turin, AcdB and Ghisallo have promoted an initiative of museums around that has brought the pink jersey of Fausto Coppi (relic of the fifties, Chiapuzzo collection) at the centre of the exhibition Invisible Archaeology of Egyptian Museum in Turin. A tribute to an heirloom biography that has already attracted many visitors to the reopening of one of Italy's most famous and important international museums.
On Saturday 15 May, still in the active programme of "museums on the road", museo AcdB director Roberto Livraghi will be at the opening of an exhibition of illustrations pedalling through the hand of Riccardo Guasco from Alessandria, a selection taken from the much larger, successful exhibition Veni Vidi Bici! staged in 2018 at Palazzo Monferrato and subsequently in 2019 at the Ghisallo Museum.
The cultural event scheduled for Saturday 15 at the Castello Visconteo in Voghera (10 am) includes the presentation of a book published by Museo del Ghisallo and that will also be on sale at the AcdB Bookshop, dedicated to the reckless and epic life of Luigi Lucotti, a somewhat forgotten Voghera man, a 20th century cyclist very dear to the fans of Costante Girardengo, who became famous in the international chronicles especially at the Tour of 1919.
On 18th May, next Tuesday, at 10 a.m., international day of Museums, a digital connection between museums on the web and on the Giro - involving also the international museum Mumac of Cimbali Faema, sponsor of the Museo del Ghisallo - will bring us again to talk about the history of cycling and the pink jersey with the expected participation of our two times "pink" champion Franco Balmamion (winner of two editions of the Giro), in connection from Turin, with Francesco Camusso's daughter, Mrs Irene, and from Alessandria Città delle Biciclette Imerio Massignan (from Silvano d'Orba), while Ghisallo will propose a special greeting from the family of the first pink jersey Learco Guerra and will connect us with the Olympian Marino Vigna in the first of the meetings entitled the Cycling Literary Cafés with Faema.
